Unable to start games

Bugs Report
razgon Hi,
first off, thanks for the awesome work and site! Really cool and while I bought a ton of these games back in the day, this seems way easier.

The only thing is, whenever I try to start a game, it just opens a dialogue window where I have to find some file after the Company splash screen.

Win7 x64 system here - any idea whats going on?

Thanks and Welcome :)

where I have to find some file after the Company

Huh?

Give us more information, i.e.:
What antivirus you are using?

Re: Unable to start games

I'm using MSE - Microsoft Security essentials.

Sorry if I wasnt clear, but after clicking a game, I just get a new dialogue box listing c:windows, as if I have to use some extra file to open the game itself.

Re: Unable to start games

Hi. Check first if you have Microsoft Visual C + + 2010 Redistributable Package
Download Link
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=5555

After clean instillation Win7 I could not run a exe without this . Try this may help.

Or There is a virus that blocks all EXE files in the system in this way, if it is a virus that will help
exefixwin7.reg run and restart PC

Select EXE and download , unrar , run :)

Re: Unable to start games

Hi, thanks a lot, but neither suggestion helped at all.

Oh well, it seems like it's a weird fluke that only appears on my system, so I'll figure something out - thanks anyways!

Re: Unable to start games

Microsoft Security essentials has a poor detection scanner. Its detection rate is at 65%
change the antivirus :D

Re: Unable to start games

Yup, MSE is the WORST antivirus, even among free antiviruses, do yourself a favor and try Avast, or COMODO if you like getting annoyed with multiple "found this" / "found that" messages. ;)

Re: Unable to start games

Hmm, coming back to this, it still doesn't work -same errors as above.

Also, I thought I'd tell you guys, that according to a february analysis MSE is actually the second best in the test regarding false positives and a 95.8 detection rate. source: http://www.av-comparatives.org/en/compa ... ction-test

Re: Unable to start games

Second? You sure you read the right stats? ;)

The last report on that site from May shows it's 6th place out of 9: http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/s ... ay2011.pdf

February report is even better, 11th out of 19, with AVAST included at 3rd place: http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/s ... eb2011.pdf :haha:

Sure, those are all very close, most today's AV's are, but MSE wins definitely at SLOWEST scanning speed and close to none heuretic/false positives detection, which means trojans - here we go!
Not to mention a lack of any useful configuration and security options every AV should have, like white-listing the EXEc which would most probably solve your problem. ;)
