Re: Mechforce games

I know a little bit about Mechforce, the turn-based shareware simulation game by Ralph Reed, that was heavily based off the "Battletech" franchise (very likely unlicensed by FASA). Excellent game - I was a registered owner of it and we played the heck out of it when I was in high-school. I still have it on a HD image, and it had the Mechforce HQ which was a snazzy 3rd party add-on. The 'old' name of the game was Battlefortress. Early versions of the game basically only had AI for fighting dropshops, so you could only fight this giant fortress ship. When the AI for the game was perfected, it became "Mechforce".

I've done some experiementing, and Kickstart 1.3 is the preferable condition to run Mechforce under. For some reason, the sound doesn't work, and the Order-Making Utility crashes on the latest versions of WinUAE if you run it under 2.1 or 3.1. Dunno about later editions.
